Susan Hurt

J.D., Ph.D.

Susan Hurt is a licensed psychologist in North Carolina. Before becoming a psychologist, she practiced law in New York and Minnesota, specializing in commercial litigation. Dr. Hurt currently practices in the field of forensic psychology, where she has over 20 years of experience in both the criminal and civil justice systems, including evaluations related to competency, disability, abuse and neglect, and child custody. Dr. Hurt serves as a consultant in police and public safety psychology, where she has 15 years of experience including pre-employment, critical incident, and fitness for duty evaluations.

 

Dr. Hurt’s training experience includes ethics for licensed professionals, certification for statewide forensic evaluators, and peer support training for first responders. Before joining the state forensic unit, she founded and operated Clinical and Forensic Psychological Services, P.C., providing mental health assessments, forensic evaluations, therapy, and professional supervision.

 

Dr. Hurt received a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Vanderbilt University, a Juris Doctor from Cornell University, and a Master of Arts and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Virginia.
